No A.M. training session- workout partner cancelled and I was tired, slept in.
No P.M. training session- due to work.
I refer a lot to wrestling, when I talk about training. In BJJ, training sessions tend to be more relaxed. This makes BJJ a lot of fun. – Until you want to compete. At the Worlds this year I saw a black belt from Japan. This guy had the best guard of the tournament. He was very flexible, and he played a very relaxed and lose game. His opponent simply had no idea how to pass his guard. But the guy from Japan lost by Advantage points, why?
Because he had no offense. Even though his opponent had no answer to his guard, his guard game was based Only on reacting and countering. In the last minute of the match he was still waiting for his opponent to make a mistake and be over committed. It never happened. His opponent realized this and simply stayed busy and never committed to any attacks since he was ahead on advantage points.
This is why I always tell people to Model the “wrestling mind set”. In competition you simply have to be Proactive, I cannot tell you how many match’s I watched this weekend where the winning points where scored in the first minute.
Develop a balanced game.
